1. Giant Hand
Magical means of transportation between disconnected chambers in the first Knightmare gamebook, often known as Can You Beat The Challenge?. Its most detailed description is in passage 57: 'As you reach the threshold, a Giant Hand seizes you and hurls you through the darkness into the next chamber of the dungeon ... merely walking from one to another is not always possible ... Disconcerting at first, but you will get used to it.'

[Related Image] Although this was never recreated on Knightmare itself, gigantic hands did appear from time to time. Mogdred reached one toward dungeoneer Christopher of Team 3 of Series 2, though he managed to escape down the Level 2 wellway.

[Related Image] Lord Fear, by dipping his hand into the Pool of Veracity, was able to manifest it within the Dungeon in giant form. He tried to grab Matt of Team 1 of Series 6 this way. He also attempted this with Team 3 of Series 6, who were able to thwart him by using a gauntlet to summon a giant gloved hand that restrained Lord Fear's.

[Related Image] Massive mitts also featured in one of the more surreal parts of the Series 6-8 opening sequence, pulling the dungeoneer into a wall past which he was falling.

In short, if you were a Knightmare fan, or a mid-1990s National Lottery winner, or both if you were insanely lucky, you'll have felt the influence of the giant hand.
